Live GPS speed test
Speedometer Online
Start the browser speedometer when you are ready and see your live speed in km/h, mph, or m/s.
Verify your dash.
Your phone's GPS gives a precise digital readout, useful when you want to see how closely your vehicle's display matches actual speed.
Speed without hardware.
Mount your phone on the bars and read live pace without pairing a sensor or magnet. Works as long as you have open sky above you.
Know your outdoor pace.
Track km/h or mph in real time on outdoor runs. GPS measures movement across the ground, so it will not register on a treadmill.
Train, bus, or ferry.
Sit back on any vehicle and see exactly how fast you are moving. No app needed, just a browser and a clear GPS signal.
Use your phone as an online speedometer
Zpeed turns your phone browser into an online speedometer. Open the page, choose your unit, tap Start tracking, and read your current speed without installing a native app.
The page is built for practical use while traveling, driving, cycling, boating, walking, or running outdoors. It keeps the live readout large and puts maximum speed, average speed, elapsed time, distance, and GPS accuracy nearby.
How to use this GPS speedometer
Open the speedometer page, choose the unit you prefer, then tap Start tracking. Zpeed explains why location access is needed before the browser asks for permission.
After you allow location access, keep the page open while you move. The large readout shows live speed, and the trip stats update during the session. Tap Reset when you want to start a fresh measurement.
- Use outdoors or near a window for the best GPS signal
- Choose km/h, mph, or m/s
- Start only when you are ready to measure
- Reset trip stats between journeys
How browser GPS speed works
Your device receives position fixes from GPS satellites and the browser exposes those readings through the Geolocation API. A speed reading may come directly from the device, or it can be calculated from movement between recent positions.
Zpeed runs this calculation in your browser. Your coordinates are not uploaded to a Zpeed server, and the tool does not require an account. The GPS signal is strongest under open sky and can weaken indoors, underground, or between tall buildings.
Accuracy limits and best conditions
Use Zpeed outdoors or near a window when you want the most reliable GPS signal. Readings can lag, jump, or briefly show zero when the phone is indoors, underground, blocked by buildings, or still acquiring satellites.
Some browsers and devices have support issues with geoLocation API. If you are not getting correct location, make sure you are in GPS mode in location settings and you gave location permission to both the Browser and Webpage. Or, try with another browser.
Good to know
Things worth knowing.
01 How accurate is a GPS-based browser speedometer? ⌄
In open sky, modern phones usually get a strong GPS fix and can estimate speed reliably. Accuracy drops in tunnels, indoors, under heavy tree cover, or between tall buildings.
02 Does Zpeed ask for location on page load? ⌄
No. Zpeed shows the speedometer first and only asks for location after you tap Start tracking and continue through the in-app explanation.
03 Does my location leave my device? ⌄
No. The live GPS speed calculation runs in your browser. Zpeed does not require an account or server-side location tracking for the speedometer.
04 Which speed units are supported? ⌄
Zpeed supports km/h, mph, and m/s. The selected unit is saved in your browser.
