Live GPS speed test
Boat Speed Test
Track your boat speed live from your phone browser using GPS.
Live speed on open water.
GPS signal is just as reliable over open water as on land. No additional hardware needed beyond your phone.
Compare to your vessel's display.
Run Zpeed alongside your boat's log or GPS plotter as an independent second reading.
Over-ground speed vs current.
GPS reads your actual speed relative to the riverbed — what you are genuinely achieving, not just speed through the water.
Quick check without instruments.
Useful on a bare-bones boat or borrowed vessel where there is no knotmeter fitted. Works in harbour and underway.
Confirm you are holding position.
An anchored boat at 0 km/h confirms the anchor is holding. A creeping non-zero reading suggests slow drift.
Easy to share, no account needed.
Send the link to everyone on board. Each phone reads its own GPS independently.

Good to know
Things worth knowing.
01 Does it work offshore with no mobile signal? ⌄
GPS works independently of mobile data. Once the page is loaded, Zpeed needs no internet connection to calculate speed. The GPS chip in your phone communicates directly with satellites.
02 How accurate is GPS speed over water? ⌄
In open water with clear sky, position accuracy is typically 10–40 metres, giving very reliable speed estimates. Heavy spray, a sealed waterproof case, or extreme heel angles can reduce signal quality.
03 Does it show knots? ⌄
Not currently. Zpeed shows km/h, mph, and m/s. One knot equals approximately 1.852 km/h if you need a quick mental conversion.
